Avengers

In my third week participating in the Dribbble Weekly Warm-Ups the challenge was to create a Playing Card. I started with the idea to do an Iron Man themed ace card however I ended up illustrating Avengers for the Ace of each suit. I think they turned out great for warm-ups and I even ended up producing some additional compositions using the illustrations I created during the warm-up. And here are those compositions I had mentioned above.

Dribbble Weekly Warm-Up

I’ve been participating in the Weekly Warm-Ups hosted by Dribbble and I feel as though I’ve been able to create some nice illustrations as a result. The first week I started the warm-ups, the challenge was to create something creepy. My entry was came together in a couple hours and I’m fairly happy with the result. The next weeks challenge was to create a stamp for a place you would like to visit. I chose Japan.

Mascot Logo

Over on r/logodesign a lot of designers have been creating various mascots or logos for fictional teams. After seeing all the different takes on the style I decided to give it a try with my own spin. I think my angles came out much sharper than some of the others which for mine makes the tiger look more ferocious. The big teeth help too! It was fun to sketch this out and experiment with a new style.

Product Illustrations

Been on a bit of a kick illustrating. I’ve just had a great time experimenting with different styles and this time is no exception. For a series of social media posts I created this illustrations that give a lo-fi version of our products with some details highlighted. It was fun to get my mockups of the different products and then simplify their overall aesthetic while still maintaining the overall concept of the product.

Scenic Illustrations

This started of as a series of quick illustrations, but I ended up really like how these turned out. I was mostly trying to apply the style I had been using for character illustrations in earlier posts like this one and apply it to different objects. I think this really became it’s own project though and I’m happy with the result. Both of the mountain illustrations were based on drawings from an old sketchbook that I dug up from a […]

Logo Variations

After reading an article that I found while browsing Reddit called “2019 Logo Trend Report” I was feeling a little bit inspired and did some sketches of the same brand, but in the different styles listed in this report. It was a lot of fun and I think it demonstrates how choosing the right style can be extremely important in marketing you brand. And here are a couple of my favorites that resulted from this:

Designing My Website

I’ve wanted to write this article for a while. The brief for this project was simple: to design a new portfolio website for myself. I quickly realized that problem with designing for yourself is that if you do not have a stop date in mind you can carry on endlessly designing dozens of page variations. Thankfully, after only a few failed attempts I came up with a plan. I drew up wireframes, pre-made content for pages/mockups, and I managed to […]

TraffickCam

TraffickCam is an app that allows users to photograph hotel rooms to better identify trafficking victims. From TraffickCam’s posting on the Android Playstore: TraffickCam enables you to help combat sex trafficking by uploading photos of the hotel rooms you stay in when you travel. Traffickers regularly post photographs of their victims posed in hotel rooms for online advertisements. These photographs are evidence that can be used to find and prosecute the perpetrators of these crimes. In order to use these […]

FastTrax

I almost forgot about this one. Combining a brief from the bi-weekly Logo challenge on the r/logodesign subreddit along with challenges from the #DailyUIChallenge I ended up designing a logo and variety of screens for a potential mobile app. I may have gotten a little carried away with this one… The initial brief from the Logo Challenge was to design a logo and app icon for a adult/child Go-Kart race track. I stuck pretty heavily with the racing theme. I […]

Hello Dribbble!

I started a Dribbble account the other day and was invited to be a player. Members of the Dribbble community typically create a debut image showing their excitement to be a player on the court. I was able to quickly illustrate the image and had a pretty clear vision of what I wanted to do when I started out which made it much easier. Animating it on the other hand was another story. I didn’t prep the image as much […]
